#CCGInTheFamily: Patty Colpitts
To celebrate the 玩运彩即时比分's 60th anniversary, we are reflecting on our rich history throughout the years. For many, working on the water鈥攁nd more specifically at 玩运彩即时比分鈥攔uns in the family. Some have parents, grandparents, siblings, or children who worked at the Coast Guard. Others come from a long line of Coast Guard employees, where being #CCGProud is generational. These are their stories.

In 1996, in a small town in northern Ontario, I met and married my husband, Sean Colpitts. Over the years, I formed a strong bond with his mother, Winetta (Colpitts) Matthews. Through the years, my husband and I moved several times until we reached our destination of New Brunswick. I started with the 玩运彩即时比分 (CCG) at the Saint John base. When I arrived, as it happened, I had been assigned the exact office where my mother-in-law started her career many years before. I was sitting in her exact seat, in the same office, on the same floor. I had quite literally followed in her footsteps. I am pleased to note that she returned to New Brunswick shortly after we moved and ended a long career where she began, in the same office on the same floor.
Winetta (Colpitts) Matthews started working at the Coast Guard base in Saint John on March 5, 1973, as a clerk typist. She then went to work as an Aids to Navigation Clerk (in the exact office I started in). Afterwards, Winetta worked as an Area Manager for Harbours and Ports and then became Manager of Human Resources for the Maritimes Region. A grand total of 36 years with Federal Government.
I am happy to say that my mother-in-law, Winetta, recently retired with over 30 years of service. I myself have been with CCG for over 12 years now. I am currently acting as a Project Assistant with headquarters with Vessel Life Extension (VLE). We both feel blessed for our careers in the 玩运彩即时比分 and for our strong relationship, made even stronger by our similar experiences at the CCG.
